There are many initiatives taking place in public education in the state as well as at the national level. The following narrative and PowerPoint provides an update on the major educational initiatives taking place in Wisconsin during the 2011-12 school year. These initiatives can be categorized into four (4) major areas as identified by State Department of Public Instruction.
1.1. Standards and Instruction: What do we want students to learn?
1.2. Assessments and Data Systems: How will we know they have learned?
1.3. Accountability for Systems and Individuals: How will we respond when students are and are not learning?
1.4. School Finance Reform: How will we pay for learning?
